A baby carrier is, in my opinion, a must item for any parent, but for single parents it is even more essential. While parents in a two-parent family can get some hands-free time while their partner holds the baby, for single parents the carrier is practically the only substitute for “can you hold him for me a minute?” (unless they live with the grandparents or can afford a lot of hired help).
Single moms have their advantages, too, in choosing a baby carrier: There are no size problems- no need to pick an adjustable carrier or pay for 2 carriers in different sizes. The color, too, is easier to choose, without male objections to orange with flowers, and there’s no need to compromise on the strap/clips issue because of male objections to long straps.
