There are several types of Asian carriers, all of them, like Mei tai, share the basic form of a rectangle piece of cloth with straps coming out of its angles. Each type has different proportions between cloth and straps and a different number of straps, following that the tying method and distribution of weight of baby is different as well.
The Japanese baby carrier, Onbuhimo, has 2 straps and 2 rings coming from its angles, and is worn like this. Like other Asian carriers it is possible to place the baby very high on your back so they can peep across your shoulder and see what you’re doing and whom you’re talking too. Curious babies appreciate this very much ![]()
