Last September, on the eve of Yom Kippur, I had a couple who came to choose a carrier. Usually the mother plays the major role in trying out carriers, and the father merely tells her to get the carrier she likes best, and tries to look as if none of this concerns him. But this was one of those couples where the father wanted the carrier mainly for himself, and particularly for Yom Kippur, in order to carry his little son on his back to the prayers in the Synagogue.
Fathers and carriers is a subject that merits a post of its own. Babies in a carrier are always a lovely sight to see, but a tiny baby cradled on a wide, masculine breast is even cuter. Seeing that baby on the back of his father with his yarmulke and side burns was particularly gratifying.
BTW, they chose a Mei Tai ![]()
